A major difference between LTE and NR in terms of scheduling granularity is that LTE transmission time interval is fixed at 1 ms whereas NR transmission interval is a slot or a fraction of slot whose length is a function of the subcarrier spacing.
So one of the methods to reduce the latency in 5G RAN, Shorting the 5G NR TTI.
Another option is mini-slot which is deployed by 2,4 or 7 OFDM symbols to reduce the overall latency.
