Simply, like LTE, There’s BCCH channel at 5G NR and its function is transmission of system information from the network to all devices in a cell.
Before accessing the system, a device needs to get the system data to figure out how the system is configured and to know how to behave well within a cell.
System information is given by the LTE system and there is no BCCH in the case of non-standalone operation.
But you may ask at the below graph, Why there’s mapping between BCCH and DL-SCH?
Simply, as the system information contains two different types MIB and SIBs, MIB will be mapped to BCH and others SIBs will be mapped to DL-SCH.It’s like LTE
